Pathways to Leadership: Monthly Reflection

As a participant in the Pathways to Leadership (PTL) program, you are expected to submit one reflection paper each month to this website. Each reflection paper allows you the opportunity to share, in written form, your feelings and thoughts as you respond to and reflect on the experiences you have as an emerging administrator in light of concepts and paradigms associated with the PTL program.

What is a reflection? There are various definitions of the word, "reflection." In addition to including a description that may be “a mirror image” of something, a reflection may include one’s consideration of a thing, concept, situation, or thought or opinion that emerges from such contemplation (The American Heritage Dictionary, 2000). In addition to providing descriptions of experiences that impact your development as an administrator, it is our hope that your reflection papers will reveal how you are processing and applying concepts associated with the PTL program.

Your reflection papers should be 250 to 400 words in length. These papers will be due on the 15th of each month using the instructions given on this website. You will be notified when your reflection papers have been received. Reminders will be sent to your designated e-mail address if your papers have not been received by the 25th of each month. You are encouraged to keep an off-site copy of the text you submit here in the event that there are problems receiving them in cyberspace.

Your reflections will be examined using an instrument based on the conceptual foundation of the PTL program. You should expect to receive a report associated with the analysis of your reflections on a quarterly basis during the two years you are involved in this program.

Reflections submitted here will not be shared with your mentors by those who have access to this website. You may choose to share your reflections with your mentors. However, such sharing is optional. Any questions and concerns you have related to course content should be directed to your mentors as these will not be addressed by those accessing this website. Any questions or concerns you have related to the reflection paper submissions should be addressed to Lorna Browne at konptl@konptl.kon.org.
